Dehradun – Oldest City of India

Lapped up between the foothills of Himalayas to the North and the Shivaliks to the South, one of the oldest cities of India, standing high at an altitude of nearly 2,200 feet in the Doon valley between two of the most known rivers Ganga and Yamuna is Dehradun. The cave is located in Garhi and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is situated on the bank of the river. The cave has two Shivlings, but it is said that the Shivlings are not manmade. They have naturally appeared in the cave. One can see the water naturally trickling on the Shivling, so the temple is called Tapkeshwar Mahadev.

Malsi Deer Park:

This very well-developed and very well-maintained mini zoological park is nearly 10 kilometers away from Dehradun. The favorable weather keeps the surrounding lush green. As the park has very good facilities for refreshments it becomes the ideal picnic spot too.

The untouched beauty of this park is a must visit place for the nature lovers and animal lovers. The river Ganges flows through the National park with other innumerable steams. It is truly a breathtaking view. The Sal forest and the Deciduous forest make it a very rich park in flora. The Park is a home to various animals like Tiger, Bengal tiger, Elephant, Himalayan yellow throated marten, jungle cat, Himalayan black bear, Jackal, Barking deer, Rhesus macaque and many other animals.
